Cuernavaca, Mexico
Since the school began in Cuernavaca, Mexico in 1996 the teacher's
workshops have become one of the most popular offerings of the school, especially during summer months.
These free supplemental workshops are designed to enhance a teacher's ability to understand and to work effectively
with their Spanish-speaking students and their families.
Workshop topics include: translations; writing letters to the Hispanic student's parent; family customs and
how they can relate to the school environment; inappropriate words students may use; Mexican celebrations and holidays.
Those who enroll in any level of Instituto Chac-Mool's general Spanish immersion program, can
participate in these afternoon workshops free of charge.
Teachers Workshops are offered each Tuesday and Thursday,
and begin at 1:55 pm so that no time is taken away from the daily
Spanish course. Sign up in advance is required, the sign up sheet will be posted at the school.
Students participating in these teachers workshops may have the opportunity
to visit a public junior high and a private elementary school to compare and contrast the educational systems of
Mexico and the United States (visits not available during holidays and June through August when the local schools are closed).
