For mature professionals, retirees, or senior citizens whose passion is not only to travel abroad but learn
Mexico's language and culture, Instituto Chac-Mool's
Spanish language program in Cuernavaca is perfect for the 'young at heart'. You will improve your
Spanish skills by building vocabulary and learning everyday useful phrases. These new skills will allow
you to enjoy and understand not only the language, but also the culture of a magical and colorful country - MEXICO!
Cuernavaca offers exceptional daytime temperatures typically in the 80's year round.
But the winter months are the time of year you'll find the most older students at our school.
Some of the students coming to Instituto Chac-Mool have never
studied a language before, others are
enhancing their Spanish skills for future travel or retirement in Latin America. Whatever the reason, we believe
you will not only increase your Spanish level,
but will have a rewarding and fun vacation where you will meet others of similar age and interests.
Spanish classes are Monday through Friday from 8:50 am to 1:50 pm and new classes begin every week.
The class size is no more than 6 students per instructor (although typically smaller) and your
peer group level will be determined by a personal interview on your first day of class.
After
classes end all students have the opportunity to study one-on-one with an instructor for a 20 minute session for times a week.
Also offered until about 3 pm are optional lectures and discussion groups.
Evening Mexican cooking classes and Latin dance lessons are regularly scheduled.
Guided full-day cultural excursions are offered on Saturday.
If you are traveling alone, with a partner, or in a group, we welcome you to our Cuernavaca school! Our
Natural Approach to learning is the easiest way to acquire a new language and no age
is too old to learn. We guarantee it! >>
We invite you to take a look at our course details,
housing
options and to contact us for more information.

online or by mail.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Many students choose to live with a Mexican family near the school while they are studying Spanish, these homestays
can be arranged for you by Instituto Chac-Mool.
The homestay option provides the opportunity to practice the Spanish language as well as to
experience and appreciate the Mexican culture.
The families provide three meals a day, and most special diets can be accommodated.
If you have a preference, we can place you with a host family without children, and with or without a senior member of
the family in the home. You can request a private room with a private or with a shared bathroom.

I had a marvelous time in the school and city and hope to return within a year. You have spoiled me, when I go back I am going to insist on staying with the same family again, great family, great food, good fun. -Ron, Retired
I returned from Cuernavaca a couple of days ago and thought I'd report on what a great experience it was. It exceeded my expectations. The school is beautiful and the teachers were excellent. What's more, they seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The lodging was comfortable, and my hostess was a wonderful cook. In spite of all my worries--my nature is to worry--all the travel arrangements went very smoothly, in spite of the three-hour delay because of fog in Atlanta. - Nancy, Retired
I thoroughly enjoyed my three weeks at Chac-Mool. I thought that the teaching was excellent and, something I'd not encountered before, ensemble teaching. There was communication between maestros. And the atmosphere was totally delightful. - Linda, Retired mental health professional
